cheating in NASCAR question

Postby cheatin2win » August 23rd, 2014, 10:52 am

Can anyone recall a Sprint Cup Series race winning car being found illegal and actually losing the win? All I recall seeing is points loss and fines. Here in a couple months they have a winner take all format with 4 drivers for the title. Fines and points have no bearing at all on that race if the driver actually wins it. Highest finishing driver is the champion. So do we expect juiced tires, illegal parts, any measurements they like, wrong rear gear?

On a side note wonder who has the most illegal wins. The 18 and the 2 both have a bunch of them in the two lower series where they don't care about fines or points.

NASCAR has had a policy since almost the beginning that they would not take away the win. Bill France Sr's philosophy was that he wanted the fans leaving the track knowing who won....he didn't want someone to read the Monday morning paper and see a different winner.

Wikipedia says that the very first NASCAR race winner was DQ'd for illegal springs, but since then the only twice that I can remember did the guy who crossed the finish line first NOT win the race....both were for driving infractions. (Rudd at Riverside, Regan Smith at Talledega).

As far as most wins that were with an illegal car? The #43 without a doubt. At least two documented....everything else doesn't count since they weren't caught, right?
Spent the last year Rocky Mountain Way...

Right, if they were not caught, didn't happen!
